Interbike Fashion Show Sponsored by: GIANT

Posted on 25 September 2009 by Michael Echo Roberson

Yesterday at around 3 in the afternoon all eyes and attention went to the east wing of the Interbike convention center to see the start of the fashion show and (see if anyone would fall)!

The show started off with a boom boom pow thanks to Dj Miss Dust dj-miss-dustwho was by far the best female dj I’ve ever seen. Having 14 solid years under my belt as a dj myself and turntables in my front room to prove it, you can rest assured when I say this girl was slamming… she was slamming!

So with the beats bumping, beer and vino flowing it wasn’t long before the area cordoned off for the fashion show had swelled to a nice little rowdy crowd of the cycling industry elite and wanna-gonna-bees. The heads where bobbing, hips where shaking and if you were there you would have thought to yourself as I did all it’s going to take to get this party started is one person to start dancing!

If I wasn’t there representing Women’s Cycling Magazine you better bet’cha I would have gotten out in the middle of everyone and got them all dancing! Since we’re not living in Echo’s fantasy world nothing of the sort happened.

fashion-pinkWhat actually did happen is the host came out after the crowd had gathered and was completely liquored up and announced the show would be starting in five minutes! All the media shutterbugs, bloggers and who’s who of the industry gathered around one of the three different stages set up and that’s when the show began.

This fashion show was unlike any other fashion show I had been to or been in. What was so different about this show to start with was that there where three different stages as I mentioned, in addition all the models were not only wearing different fashions from head to toe but they were also modeling bicycles and accessories.

I’m happy to say nobody fell down, thank god. I’m actually surprised because one of the gents pulled a couple of wheelie’s on his bike and people were passing him beers as though he was in a cycling road race or marathon… it was extremely entertaining to say the least.

This year was my first Interbike convention and now I can tell you with conviction and certainty that I love the cycling industry! There was so much “stoke” going around each day, thousands of positive folks rushing around feeding off each others positive vibes it was great! Who’s to say that you can’t mix business with pleasure?

These past 5 days I had the perfect mix of business and pleasure. I got the chance to meet a lot of really great people, see tons of new product and I networked my little butt off. Women’s Cycling Magazine definitely got the word out, we’re here with a great quality product and if you haven’t heard our slogan already… “IT’S ABOUT TIME”!

Stay tuned for video from the fashion show in a couple of days. I’ve got to get back to the office in SoCal and edit the vids! As soon as I piece everything together you’ll all be the first to know!

WCM at TwitterUP Mixer – Interbike Shenanigans

Posted on 22 September 2009 by Michael Echo Roberson

post-twitterup

It seems like only 5 minutes have gone by since the last time I sat down at this god blessed laptop to update the WCM readers. As it turns out its been about 4 hours, in the meantime here’s what went down.

The WCM crew Carson Blume, Marian Hunting, Echo Roberson and special guest Veronika “Ronnie” Lenzi piled in an extremely small Japanese import and made our way to the Venetian Resort for a little R&R and elbow rubbing. We arrived fashionably early and to our surprise so did a lot of other people. As soon as we got to the venue it was clear that this was going to be a good night.shirt

TwitterUP was put on by cyclist for cyclist to raise money for some great causes like Multiple Sclerosis and HIV/AIDS. There was a raffle and lots of prizes at the end of the night around $1400 was raised, not too shabby for 3 hours of laughter and networking.

Aside from raising money for some wonderful charities there was a lot of tweetin action going on! When arriving at the entrance everyone had the opportunity to write down their twitter accounts and stick’em on their shirts that way anyone could randomly throw you a tweet during the night… pretty cool!

Of course the alcohol was flowing pretty heavy so by the end of the night everyone loosened up. Me personally, I stuck to the Red Bull sans alcohol. In my 32 years if I’ve learned anything it’s Las Vegas, Echo and Alcohol are a combination nobody wants to see… or hear!

I’ll leave you with that, until tomorrow. Time to get some rest, we’re up at 6a.m. and back on a mission. The indoor portion of Interbike begins tomorrow so be sure to check back with us for more news, pics and video!

WCM at Interbike Outdoor Demo, Blazing F'n Hot!

Posted on 22 September 2009 by Michael Echo Roberson

post-interbike-outdoor

Woo Hoo the heat was on today as WCM stomped our hooves, snarled and charged into Interbike’s outdoor demo! The atmosphere was ecstatic and dusty, everywhere you looked there demo bikes and people doing their darnedest to break them in.

This being my first year at Interbike (first day) I was wide mouthed and wide eyed as I made my way through the herds of people. Skipping from booth to booth with a grin from ear to ear I felt like that 13 year old boy I used to be who just got his first kiss! I’ve never seen so many bikes in one place let alone so many people. Riders were blazing there way through the crowds so they could get to the trails and tear it up, the music was blasting in the background and if you were sharp enough you knew where the beer was flowing!

All I can say to sum up the day is EYE YI YI and EEE CHEE WA WA, this is going to be a great week! Stay tuned as I’ll be updating with news, pics and video all week long.

2010 Ritchey Product Line – Boom Boom Pow at Interbike

Posted on 11 September 2009 by Michael Echo Roberson

We just got word in to keep a look out for the Ritchey booth #3325 at Interbike 2009. Word on the streets is they’ll be showcasing some stellar new gear from their 2010 product line and Ritchey-sponsored Team TIBCO Women’s Pro Cycling pro’s Brooke Miller and Alison Starnes will be there to socialize and sign autographs!

Are you scratching your head and wondering what it is exactly Ritchey will awe us with this year? Well if you are we’re excited to say they’ve given us a sneak peek into the 2010 product line and it’s looking good.ritchey1

The SuperLogic Carbon 46mm Road Tubular wheels and WCS Carbon 1Bolt Ritchey WCS Carbon Zero-Offset postZero-Offset seatpost are both new to the Ritchey line. The SupeLogic wheel set is entirely hand-built with carbon rims that make it one of the lightest on the market. The Zero-Offset seatpost allows riders to be “on top of” their pedals and makes saddle adjustments easy.

ritchey2Ritchey WCS Carbon WheelsThese and all Ritchey products are made according to the Ritchey Fit Logic philosophy that “the best performance is achieved when a bike fits the unique and individual dimensions of the rider.” This exactly the kind of custom fitting that the new Fit Logic poster facilitates. It gives a Ritchey dealer a new tool to help customers dial in the fit of their bikes. The poster’s new visual presentation of the fitting system demonstrates how the stem, handlebars and seatpost can be adjusted to meet an individual rider’s needs.

That’s just a sneak peek into the 2010 product line swing by the booth to ask questions, place orders or get an autograph. If you’d like more specific information or would like to setup a time to come by ahead of time please use the following information.
